On Thursday, December 7, 2023, the Faculty of Law (FLW) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized a conference commemorating Human Rights Day 2023, focusing on the 75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

IUS SDG Week: Human Rights Day 2023

Within the IUS SDG Week, IUS Faculty of Law (FLW) is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  The esteemed speakers are: Ms. Valerija Galić, President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Ms. Jasminka Džumhur, Human Rights Ombudsperson of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Ms. Benjamina Karić, Mayor of Sarajevo; Ms. Saliha Đuderija, Member of Board of Directors of the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS Rector and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ena Kazić- Çakar, IUS FLW Dean.

FLW Public Lectures Series: Transitional Justice and Bosnia nd Herzegovina: A Case Study of Foča and Kalinovik

During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Pettigrew will focus on the exploration of memorialization attempts and challenges victims are encountering as well as identifying and recommending potential mechanisms on how to overcome them. The center of interest is the case of Foča and Kalinovik - two towns in Eastern Bosnia where the glorification of war criminals has more potential than memorialization and ultimately reconciliation. Apart from Prof. Dr. Pettigrew who will emphasize theoretical and practical insights into this topic, the guest speaker is Ms. Aida Hadžimusić, Al Jazeera journalist, who is a war crimes survivor and who will present her story which is related to this topic.    You are all cordially invited.
