Dr. Tarik Durmišević Delivers Insightful Lecture on the Menshura Exception

On Friday, April 3, 2026, the Faculty of Law (FLW) organized a public lecture titled “The Menshura Exception: Waqfs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye - Comparisons,” delivered by Dr. Tarik Durmišević.

The lecture provided attendees with a valuable and comprehensive historical overview of the development of waqfs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye, while also shedding light on their present-day legal and social significance. Through a thoughtful and well-structured presentation, Dr. Durmišević explored the historical foundations of waqf institutions and examined how different historical, legal, and societal circumstances shaped their evolution in the two countries. His comparative approach offered important insights into both the common features and the distinctive developments of waqf practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye.

The event attracted considerable interest and offered participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of this important topic from both historical and comparative perspectives. The lecture concluded with an engaging Q&A session, during which attendees had the chance to discuss key issues raised during the presentation and exchange views with the guest lecturer.
