On Wednesday, April 26, Nazlicicek Semercioğlu, LL.M, from Bocconi University (Italy), held a lecture on the topic „Rights of Nature: Challenges and Future Prospects“. She presented the history of the establishment of rights of nature, comparative research on how this topic is regulated in selected compared countries, and offered recommendations on how to deal with the challenges of its protection in future. We use the opportunity to thank colleague Semercioğlu for this thought-triggering lecture.

Within activities of Staff Week at IUS, Faculty of Law staff hosted professors from Faculty of Law of University of Cadiz. Cooperation opportunities were discussed in various fields, including joint work on projects, publishing, exchanges and so on. We were happy to make new aqcuaintances and hopeful of working together in the future.

On Monday, 24 April 2023, IUS Faculty of Law organized a student visit to OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the visit, our first year FLW students, led by lecturer Harun Halilovic, LL.M. had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the OSCE as an international organization and about the tasks and mandate of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We wish to thank OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ms. Azra Mulahasanovic for their cooperation and making this visit possible.

On April 14th, 2023, FLW senior assistants Mirza Ljubović, MA and Hana Šarkinović-Köse, MA held a Workshop for Faculty of Law students on the topic: “What You Need to Know About Plagiarism”. This Workshop was an opportunity for law students of all years of studies to become familiar with the problem of plagiarism and to learn how to avoid plagiarism. Through lecture, workshop and quizzes, students practiced how to recognize and avoid plagiarism. They were introduced to the basics of avoiding plagiarism and ways how to write an academic paper that will not be plagiarized.

On April 14, 2023, FLW students attended a lecture on the Law on Bankruptcy Procedure in FBH, at the Municipal Court in Sarajevo. The opening speech was given by judge Nebojša Joksimović, the President of the Commercial Department of the Court. The lecturer was judge Hakija Zajmović. During the lecture students, accompanied by prof. dr. Kenan Ademović, had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge in the field of bankruptcy proceedings and to hear about the challenges of work with this cases in the practise.

City of Sarajevo in coordination with the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted IUS FLW 2nd year students. Related to the course Administrative Law and accompanied by their professor, dr.sc. Amel Delic, students were presented the iurisdiction, activities and specific position of these two institutions in the governmental sistem in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On April 11, 2023, within the course Criminal Procedure Law II, a group of senior students, accompanied by assoc. prof. dr. Ena Kazic Çakar, visited the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They attended the presentation in Courtroom 3 about the organization and work of the Legal Division of the Court and the Victims Protection program. The presentation was followed by the Q&A session.
