Dr Aliye Fatma Mataraci Representing IUS and BiH in the World Social Capital Monitor 2020

The results of the World Social Capital Monitor 2020, which has been conducted in 50 languages, is now published with the United Nations.

According to the results of the World Social Capital Monitor 2020, 26 countries significantly increased crucial social goods such as helpfulness and the willingness to pay taxes during the COVID-19 pandemic. When we look at the results for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the increase in all the social goods measured by the World Social Capital Monitor (climate, trust, measures, taxes, invest, helpfulness, friendliness, hospitality) receives attention. Overall, BiH has the fourth place among the countries that have improved their social climate and interpersonal trust in 2020. It holds the third place among the countries that have improved their willingness to pay taxes and the second place among the countries that have improved their level of hospitality in 2020.

The World Social Capital Monitor is a partnership project within the United Nations` Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). Based on this agreement, IUS contributes by conducting the semi-annual Social Capital Monitor of Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the Basel Institute of Commons and Economics. All data entries will be collected in the online databank through the portal of the World Social Capital Monitor: http://trustyourplace.com/. The data is the property of Basel Institute of Commons and Economics and IUS receives the survey results in Excel format and is entitled to use and publish the results for academic purposes. The duration of the cooperation is five years and ten semi-annual surveys are to be conducted during this period.

World Social Capital Monitor agreement was signed between Dr. Alexander Dill, on behalf of the Director of the Basel Institute of Commons and Economics and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliye F. Mataraci, current Acting Dean of Faculty of Law, on behalf of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on May 17, 2018.
