Žena-Žrtva rata and IUS Cooperation to work for Women Victims of Violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina
On 7th April 2016, representatives of NGO Žena-Žrtva rata (Association of the Women Victims of War, Sarajevo) working for the women victims of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina visited International University of Sarajevo and had a meeting with the rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu.
Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu welcomed the guests and informed them about the activities at International University of Sarajevo and unique feature of the IUS having international students and professors from various countries across the world. Further, he explained that IUS is keen to work with NGOs for the welfare and betterment of the society, especially victims of war. He expressed happiness about the visit to IUS.
Ms. Bakira Hasečić, the Director of Žena-Žrtva rata, and her colleagues discussed about their work with women victims of sexual violence during the war and appreciated the efforts of IUS to support NGOs in the field of victim support through sharing academic knowledge and resources, research and counseling activities. IUS will support Žena-Žrtva rata and other NGOs working in the same area in the Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fields of Victim Support, Mental Health of Women Victims of War and Legal support for Women Victims of Violence.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Goran Šimić, Faculty of Law and Assist. Prof. Dr. Krishna Mohan Kotra from Psychology Programme coordinated the meeting and the discussion.
