Strengthening Legal Education: FLW Students Visit the Gender Center of the Federation of BiH

On Monday, November 24, 2025, a group of first-year students from the IUS Faculty of Law (FLW), visited the Gender Center of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) as part of the course Introduction to Law I. The students were accompanied by Assistant Prof. Dr. Mirza Ljubović.

Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by the Center’s staff and introduced to the institution’s mandate and ongoing projects. They had the opportunity to attend four separate presentations covering the normative framework of gender equality in FBiH, its legal foundations, and the practical implementation of gender equality standards in everyday life.

During the visit, Mr. Zlatan Hrnčić, Expert Advisor at the Gender Center FBiH, delivered an insightful presentation. He highlighted that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has tasked the Gender Center with coordinating the development of a new seven-year strategic document, in accordance with the Law on Development Planning and Management and the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence. Mr. Hrnčić emphasized that this initiative represents a continuation of strategic and comprehensive efforts to prevent domestic violence and strengthen institutional response mechanisms. He noted that the roots of domestic violence often stem from transgenerational patterns of behavior linked to various risk factors.

The visit provided students with an enriching practical learning experience that complemented and deepened their theoretical understanding of these topics covered in Introduction to Law I. The Faculty expresses appreciation for the hospitality and expertise of the Gender Center and hopes for continued cooperation in the future.
