EU Law in Practice: Legislative Drafting Workshop at IUS
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Faculty of Law (FLW) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the honor of hosting Mr. Željko Silađi, Director of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Government Office for Legislation and Compliance with EU Regulations.
Mr. Silađi was accompanied by his colleagues, Ms. Andrea Merkez, Ms. Elma Tabak, and Ms. Tea Andrić. The distinguished guests delivered a public lecture as part of the LAW218 Legal Writing and Drafting course. They conducted an interactive workshop titled "Introduction to Legislative Drafting and Harmonization of Legal Acts with EU Law."
The session was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ena Kazić-Çakar, Dean of FLW. Following the opening remarks, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mirza Ljubović introduced Ms. Andrea Merkez and Ms. Elma Tabak, who shared their practical experiences working at the Office.
The event continued with an interactive and educational workshop, during which students were tasked with writing a short essay on the topic "What Does the EU Mean to You?" The student whose essay receives the highest rating will be given the opportunity to visit the Office and gain further insight into its work.
The public lecture concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen the collaboration between the Office and the Faculty in the coming years, to the mutual benefit of students and both institutions.
