Bosnia 25 Years After the Dayton Accords

On the occasion of twenty-fifth anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Yale Macmillan Center Genocide Studies Program and Southern Connecticut State University organised the Virtual International Symposium titled “Bosnia 25 years after the Dayton Accords” on November 5-6, 2020.  The two-day Symposium covered four panels and each day was honoured by a keynote speaker.  

On the second day of the Symposium, International University of Sarajevo contributed to this scientific encounter through the Panel III titled “Transitional Justice II”. The panel was organized by IUS Faculty of Law Professors. Acting Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliye Fatma Mataraci presented her work titled “The War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo as a Memorialisation Effort for Transitional Justice”. Assist. Prof. Dr. Ena Kazić gave the speech titled “Reparation for War Crime Victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and Assist. Prof. Dr. Kenan Ademović talked about “Justice and Reconciliation: A Bosnian Case Study”.

This Symposium gathered many prominent academicians, experts and practitioners from all around the world including CEOs of nongovernmental organisations and the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Valentin Inzko. All participants of the Symposium focused on legal consequences of the Dayton Peace Agreement for Bosnia and Herzegovina from different perspectives, including challenges for Transitional Justice.
